We're still collecting donations
On the 15th October 2023 we'd raised £44,534 with 151 supporters in 67 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
To provide community changing and showering facilities for our own football teams and any community groups that use our 3G and grass pitches
On the 15th October 2023 we'd raised £44,534 with 151 supporters in 67 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our target will help us to install one changing room block to house home and away team along with officials. Our bigger plans would be to have two blocks assisting with the volume of teams playing back to back games across the 3G and grass pitches.
Enhance our community facilities to the next level.
We are currently in need of a community changing facility that will be suitable for all. With the main stadium currently not open and no significant revenue currently coming in, we need help to raise significant funds so we can provide changing, showering and toilet facilities for those wishing to use the 3G community pitch before the remainder of the site is open. Without this, it’ll not be possible to give people access to this much needed facility. We will be moving into our new 3000 capacity stadium and 3G pitch later this year. However, the project has taken a lot longer than planned and cost exponentially more, due to various factors such as Covid, Brexit and supply issues, but also issues on site that we didn’t envisage. Therefore, we cannot afford to build the originally planned separate block of changing rooms solely for the 3G and community grass pitches and now need your help!
Who we are?
Cambridge City Football Club has been in existence since 1908, formerly Cambridge Town. However, for the last 10 years, we have been without a permanent home, having fallen on hard times and needing to sell the Milton Road stadium to developers in 2013.
The club was near extinction until a rescue package was put together by a local family with support from a newly formed supporters’ trust.
Not only did the club survive but actually managed to grow to encompass Youth teams, Ladies & Girls teams and a Parability team. There are 18 teams in total that provide opportunities for all to play and be involved in football.
Join us on our Journey Home!
Against all odds and through the generosity of our family owners, the supporter’s trust and the supporters themselves, we are on the verge of opening a brand new community facility in Sawston, Cambridge. The site will not only be able to provide a home for our 18 teams but will become a vital community hub for local people to use for both football and non-football matters on the 3G. This will bring people together connecting more females and disadvantaged individuals together at the same time as inspiring and engaging all in sport.
The club aims to be an integrated home for team sports in the Sawston community and surrounding areas. Whilst football remains at the heart of the club, the benefits of sharing facilities with others has been recognised and we already have an arrangement to work with local Rugby and Cricket teams off the pitch.
Cambridge City FC are creating a hub for community sports, this will also bring people together and improve community health through various events, community groups and businesses. The 3G training pitch will be available to the local community, sports groups, businesses and more. The Main Stand serving as a hub for all fans and players on match days. At other times The Legends Bar and function room will serve the local community hosting football and non football events and more. Whilst upstairs will feature our Hospitality suite, boardroom, executive boxes, another function room and an education room for our players and the local community. There will be opportunities outside and around the 3G Pitch to expand the facilities, introduce more activities and groups to enhance everyone's physical and social well-being.
Commonwealth Games Birmingham - Inspiration for All
Individuals, families and teams made there way to the Midlands to watch the different Commonwealth Sports, inspiring more and more to get involved with different sports, increasing the interest locally. We want our project to be united by these games as we bring people together all year round for various sports to build social connections at the same time as promoting health and wellbeing and embrace sport as part of their everyday. Our new community hub will help the region to grow, increasing participation through various groups.
How your donations will help?
The total cost of this project is £97,500 and we have submitted a number of funding applications to help us reach our target, but as it stands our challenge is to raise approx. £40,000 to bridge the gap.
We have set ourselves an initial target of £43,185 through a Crowdfunder but we want to see how far we can get with your help.
We have the plans, the permissions and the project team. We're determined to complete this project and make a big difference to our local community and we are ready to go.
But we need your help to 'pitch in' and help us get this project over the 'touch line'. Together we can do this through Crowdfunder.
It's a Team Effort – How to play your part?
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target and make this project a reality.
1. Pledge your support for our new facility. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! Bag yourself some goodies in return for your generosity by claiming pledge rewards.
2. Spread the word. Share our project far and wide on your social media pages, email, text and tell the world to get behind The Lilywhites. The more people we reach, the more support we will get. Please use the hashtag #WEARECITY
3. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
4. If you run a local business, you could offer pledge rewards which encourage others to support the club. These could include gifts, meals, goodie boxes, MOT's anything! We want to work with our community to offer supporters real value. You can give one reward or multiple - contact Alice via [email protected] and we'll set everything up!
THANK YOU!
