Extra money will help to pay for meals for homeless people, foodbank users and families in crisis throughout 2025. It will also mean Zink can continue to deliver food parcels to isolated families and offer advice and support to resolve issues that cause food poverty.
High Peak Foodbank at Zink supports families and individuals by providing emergency food parcels when they are referred to us by the likes of social and support workers, Citizens Advice, GPs, schools etc.
But we do more than just give out food; our advice worker helps families to sort out the problems that cause food poverty related to housing, finance and welfare. Our work coaches help long term unemployed people back to work so they can pay their own way and won't need food parcels.
And we look after people in other ways: by providing a timetable of wellbeing activities from School of Rock to Knit Happens, walking to baking, gaming to social meet ups, friendships and new perspectives develop.
Central to this is our community eco cafe. Open to all, it uses surplus food to provide nourishing meals in a five star hygiene rated kitchen. Free meals are offered to foodbank users and homeless people and it's half price for those on benefits.
By supporting Zink you don't just provide food, you give people a purpose and the chance of a new future.
