Your support matters–help us raise £100,000 to sustain essential community services for vulnerable migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
by Hackney Migrant Centre in London, England, United Kingdom
Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) is a community organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers throughout London. At a time when divisive rhetoric and far-right violence are fracturing our society, marked by recent racist attacks and Islamophobia across Britain, we stand firm in our belief that migrants belong in our communities.
Until October 1st, every donation up to £250 will be matched 1:1, doubling your impact. Our goal is to raise £100,000 for Hackney Migrant Centre so that we can provide 360° support to our community.
Every donation directly provides critical support to those who have nowhere else to turn.
For 17 years, Hackney Migrant Centre has been at the heart of our community. We were established to stand in solidarity with migrants in Hackney, London, and beyond, and to advocate for their rights–a mission that’s more urgent now than ever. Despite nearly two decades of service, the challenges faced by migrants have only intensified. Rising racist, Islamophobic, and anti-migrant sentiments, fuelled by the media and politicians, have made our work even more crucial. The UK remains a hostile environment for migrants, and that’s why your support is so important.
All donations received will help secure the future of Hackney Migrant Centre, enabling us to sustain our services to continue serving our community.
At a time when accessing a specialist legal aid lawyer is next to impossible, our expert team of specialist lawyers and caseworkers, along with over 60 dedicated volunteers, provide a lifeline for those who cannot move forward with their lives without access to quality legal advice.
HMC has supported thousands of vulnerable migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers by providing expert legal advice and practical assistance related to immigration status, insecure housing, and destitution. Our work empowers those we serve, enabling them to participate in society and access opportunities to live healthy and fulfilling lives in the UK.
Our service is more than just advice — it’s a haven for our community. We’re working hard to provide specialist advice and tailored support every day, but Wednesdays are extra special. On Wednesdays, our community comes together over a hot, nutritious meal. Here, we foster connection through wellbeing activities and tailored workshops for 40-60 visitors every week. Our dedicated volunteers are always on hand to address immediate needs, whether it's helping with GP registration, opening bank accounts, applying for travel cards, or distributing foodbank vouchers. We are more than a service; we’re a community.
Stand in solidarity with vulnerable migrants, refugees and asylum seekers by donating to sustain our service. Your donation has the power to change lives.
