We're still collecting donations
On the 12th February 2021 we'd raised £25,757 with 252 supporters in 94 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We sorely need to raise funds to survive until such time as we can resume shows, and welcome our community back into the venue safely.

About #SaveThe30 - The Red List
During the last 8 months, Music Venue Trust and Crowdfunder have worked together to prevent the closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues. With no end to the crisis in sight, we are now refocusing that work to spotlight those venues under most imminent threat of permanent closure. The #SaveOurVenues Red List highlights the grassroots music venues at most risk.
Right now.
We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to prevent them being lost. These 30 venues are on the Critical List and need your help.
These grassroots venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of any village, town or city.
Please donate, share this page widely and do what you can to help us to make sure our grassroots music venues survive this crisis.
WHAT
For over 40 years the Railway Inn has been at the heart of Winchester's music scene. In the last ten years it has embraced all genres of the arts, including Theatre, Exhibitions, Lectures and community projects. Whilst many artists have begun their careers here, and we're proud of it, the greatest achievement has always been it's community. They are our family and drive the very ethos of our beloved venue.
Today, we are at risk of never being able to see you again. Take a moment to imagine our stage, empty in perpetuity. With the
assistance of The Music Venue Trust's #SAVETHE30 campaign we are raising funds to ensure we can survive as a venue, and welcome our family back to The Railway safely.
We were deemed ineligible for the recent Arts Council grants, so are now pursuing other funding methods with the assistance of The Music Venue Trust, the local authorities and our MP. When successful we will add these funds to this page's total. This figure is the money we need to survive unscathed until March 31st 2021.
WHY
We have negotiated a temporary lease with the building Landlords. During the closure period and until we can return to normal, we are no longer paying rent, but will be giving the lion's share of the bar-take to them. This means that although our income is very limited, we are in a much better position to find the remaining assistance we need to survive until 2021 when there will be a clearer idea on how to operate capacity shows safely. Frankly, we can't wait! We miss you!
Thank you for take the time to read this. Thank you for being the driving force of The Railway Inn. We wouldn't love this job without you.
