Introduction: We invite you to join us in an exciting charity fundraising project aimed at enhancing the natural environment and combating climate change at Clanabogan Park, Omagh. Our initiative focuses on planting trees and plants to improve biodiversity and carbon reduction. By supporting this project, you'll contribute to creating a sustainable and thriving ecosystem while reducing carbon emissions.
Project Details: The Clanabogan Park Tree Planting Initiative is a collaborative effort that aims to transform Clanabogan Park into a flourishing haven for wildlife, while also acting as a carbon sink to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Through your generous support, we plan to plant a diverse range of native trees and plants throughout the park.
Enhance Biodiversity: By introducing native species, we will create habitats that support a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, insects, and mammals. These new ecosystems will provide food, shelter, and breeding grounds, contributing to the overall ecological balance of the area.
Improve Air Quality: Trees act as natural filters, absorbing pollutants and releasing clean oxygen. By planting trees at Clanabogan Park, we can enhance air quality, creating a healthier environment for park visitors and local residents alike.
Carbon Reduction: Trees play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and storing it in their trunks, branches, and leaves. By establishing a robust tree canopy, we can help offset carbon emissions, making Clanabogan Park a vital carbon sink for the surrounding area.
Community Engagement: We believe that community involvement is essential for the success of this project. We are inviting individuals and families to participate in our fundraising efforts and take an active role in planting trees and maintaining the park's green spaces. Every donation over £35 will be eligible to plant a tree for their family.
Donations: Through the Aviva community fund your financial contributions will directly support the purchase of trees, plants, and necessary equipment. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact on the success of this project. The Aviva Community Fund will match-fund any donations, so for every pound you donate, Clanabogan Park will receive an additional pound. To donate any amount from £10 Select Reward Growing Together: Tree Planting at Clanabogan Park. One donation of up to £250 per person will get match funded by the Aviva Community Fund!
Volunteering: Join us for planting days, where you can get your hands dirty and contribute to the physical work of planting trees and maintaining the park's green spaces. It's a great opportunity to bond with fellow community members and make a tangible difference.
Conclusion: By supporting the Clanabogan Park Tree Planting Initiative, you are actively participating in the restoration of our natural environment, fostering biodiversity, and combating climate change. Join us in making a lasting impact today!

Description:
Those of you who know me, Alejandra Gissler, have probably heard about how transformative my experience in urban gardens has been for my artistic practice. Spending time around the local communities of the gardens and enjoying the beauty and complexity of these spaces, has given me a new lens through which to inform and enrich my dance practice. My understanding of movement has expanded through witnessing the rhythms and life-cycles of the space around me. After training, volunteering, and working in community gardens for over two years, I have framed my research ‘Practice at the Garden’, in which I experiment with how ecology, movement and collectivity blend together in gardens. Previous work on this research includes a short documentary film in collaboration with artists Yasmine Lindskog and Théïa Maldoom, which premiered at the Whitechapel Gallery in March 2023.
For the upcoming summer of 2023, I have been invited to be an artist in residence at the Story Garden in central London, where I will be exploring the ways in which dance takes a part in the life of the garden, through improvised performances, and a delicate interweaving between dancing and gardening. This will be an opportunity to play and research both independently and with collaborators, as well as engaging with the community. The residency culminates with an Open Community Gathering on July 8th-9th, where there is an invitation to engage in public performances, intergenerational movement sessions, and a collective seed-sowing exercise.
I am partly funding my residency through the fund Together for Implementation, and for this I need your help! The Aviva Community Fund will match-fund any donations, so for every pound you donate, I will receive double. My target is £3750 and this covers the pay of all the artists involved, the facilitation of the community event, and general materials.
Every donation is much appreciated and receives a reward! Donors will be invited to a guided exhibition of the work developed throughout the residency on July 8th-9th, and will receive a digital publication comprising visual and written reflections of the work. Generous donors of £50+ will also receive one of my watercolor paintings via mail!
About me:
Alejandra Gissler is a London-based Latin American multidisciplinary dance artist and facilitator, working at the intersection of choreography, participatory work, and collaborative practices. Gissler has trained and worked internationally, since graduating from London Contemporary Dance School in 2019. Currently, she uses an ecological and holistic approach to dance research, and its relation to gardens as a multifaceted hub for social practices.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected], if you’d like to know more about this residency project.

In these ecosomatic practices we will explore silent walking as an act of receptive listening, where our inner landscape can deeply connect and merge with the natural surroundings. We will negotiate the pace of the walk silently as we will move as individuals part of a larger Self. Along the path we will find moments of interaction with the site through acts of contemplation, acts of creative dialogue with the surrounding wildlife and moments of giving back to nature (cleaning, litter picking, rewilding). After the walk we will engage in a resonance of the experience moving and drawing as a collective ritual, to bring conscious awareness to the multiple layers of our connection to the natural world that we also are.
Image: Gavin Maxwell Photography
Anyone can donate to our Reward that will support the travel costs to the site of the project and its further development as an ongoing practice. There are 2 levels of the reward. A ‘supporter’ donor will receive a creative gift emerging from the final ritual, in the form of a poem, a drawing, a movement reflecting on human-nature connectivity. A ‘participant’ donour will receive as well a one to one ecosomatic online session to practice at home.
Thanks to the Aviva Community Fund one donation from each individual gets doubled thanks to match funding. Please give generously.

I am a movement artist interested to facilitate the co-creation of a creative interplay based on a deep listening between the individual, the extended body an its context.I believe in the potential of our authentic selves to generate powerful connections and relationships with the animate and inanimate world we are part of, gathering deeper knowledge and understanding from the simplicity and magic of our surroundings. www.rebeccamartadandrea.wordpress.com

"Waiting for governments to save the ecosphere is a severely limited strategy, what we need to do, as individuals, is get up, walk out of the door and clean the rivers, which are the lifeblood of the land, where ever they are closest to us“.
Aluna: https://youtu.be/ftFbCwJfs1I
In this spirit we are calling in supporters to join us in cleaning out and re-wilding a reservoir of sweet waters entering our land via the Sortridge Leat, in Dartmoor National Park. Currently the reservoir fills with water, but drains almost as quickly as it fills, washing away this valuable resource. Our wish is to dredge and then line the reservoir with the proper materials so that the waters can be welcomed home and become a living sanctuary. Once complete, as well as becoming a wildlife haven, wild-swimming in the pool will facilitate direct human communion with nature. The dredging of the pool will also result in the rich silt that is excavated becoming beds for a growing project that will bring vegetables and fruits to the local community...
What will the funding go towards?
- Promotion of the event to gather a group of motivated individuals, ready to get mucky and enjoy mornings of graft followed by afternoons and evenings of feasting, song and celebration...
- Materials such as clay lining, a digger, and tools.
- Enough food and water to keep us at it, especially cake.
-Firewood for the sauna
How will we go about it?
From July 3rd to July 7th we will feed and water our group, who will work hard in the mornings on the pond, and play hard in the afternoons with a programme of workshop activities which will bring us together as a group connecting with the land here. The afternoon programme will include group singing, clownery and maskwork, arts and crafts, and nature walks to local beauty spots in Dartmoor National Park, directly accessible on foot from Ridiculous House. Evenings will be available for co-created activities, and early risers will be rewarded with yoga/movement and sauna every day...

Dance artists Kirstie Simson & Simon Whitehead collaborate to offer this latest Practicing Places workshop in the small village of Abercych in rural Pembrokeshire. Based on the premise that we are always active in processes of making places, the days spent together explore the significance of embodied practice as an approach to unearthing key questions around ways of being with ourselves, each other and belonging to the earth. Simple movement & listening scores for indoors and outdoors will be interwoven with time to walk, draw, swim & eat together. Fieldwork along the river will fold back into the studio & will deeply inform our movements and creative processes.
A river ecologist will guide us in noticing details of the rivers ecosystem, we will integrate physical care for the river into each day; removing debris and honing our observational skills of the rivers health.
Cost: £250 for each of the 16 participants
* 3 subsidised workshop places (£160) for Wales-based practitioners, be in touch for details.
